On 5/19/17 with the SQ17 soybeans trading at $954.75 I shorted August calls at $1,150.00.
For the most part this trade went perfectly. At one point I could have closed for almost full profit. However, Soybeans had moved so perfectly for me I decided to leave. Oddly, this is something I rarely do in equity options.
Over the past week Soybeans have shot up. Finally reaching the point that I decided to take profit. I ended up with a 7.08% profit over 47 days. A good return but if I had closed when I had considered it I would have made about a 22% profit over a shorter time frame.
That is what happens when I do not follow my own trading rules.
